The antennae and eyes indicate this is a Fly (& if you look closely just under the wing in front of the hind leg you can see the little yellow halteres). I’m not particularly good with flies but thinking this looks like it could belong to Family Conopidae or Family Syrphidae😊

@DiBickers Thanks for the comment, Di. The sighting was some time ago now but I'm certain that I didn't see any movement at the time. I've kept an eye out for more of these over the years but haven't seen any. I'll check the link. Thanks, Tim
